Bess will be guest-starring in Merce: Season 2, which is currently in post production. Merce will be back with his “popular” (wink-wink) roommate Corvette along with her Jo; Merce’s boyfriend, the handsome Remington; those three fabulous Fairies; and of course, his down home, sass-talkin’ Mama. But new to the Mercecompany will be Merce’s evangelical Aunt Bless, his cousin Todd (the whore), Todd’s fiancée Lisa Minelli (Lisa with an S, not Liza with a Z), plus doctors and ministers and much, much more!
Merce: Season Two is much more hard-hitting, y’all. The show tackles topics such as serodiscordant relationships, secondary conditions to HIV, slut shaming, and gay marriage, all with bawdy humor, glamorous singin’ and dancin’, and most of all, heart. You can catch Bess performing in Project: Theatre NYC “OUR BAR” the first Wednesday of each month! For more information, visit www.ourbarnyc.com. Using a theme each month, OUR BAR invites some of New York’s finest theater artists to build roughly ten scenes that could legitimately happen in that bar, that night. Audience members grab a drink, find a seat and watch the stories unfold. With no “fourth wall,” OUR BAR is often described as a month’s worth of bar antics artfully shoved into one hour, and like any great night out on the town, each show is unique. As original theater for each thematic evening, the material you see at Our Bar lives and dies in one night.
Since its inception in 2009, OUR BAR has become a staple in the original immersive theatre scene. November 1 marks the 8 year anniversary of one of New York’s longest running cult theatre experiences.
